Mayor Honours St John’s Hospital

Dear all,

Yesterday evening, representatives from St John’s attended a Mayoral Reception, hosted by Mayor Gerard Mitchell, where the hospital was recognised for its outstanding services to the people of Limerick and further afield.

I enclose photos from the event.

In the words of our Mayor, our staff were recognised for:

“compassionate, holistic and loving care centred around the individual needs of each patient and family…Your patients come first with your qualified, skilled and dedicated staff who work as a team and succeed because of each other”.

According a Mayoral Reception is one of the highest honours a Mayor can bestow on his/her citizens and, accordingly, it is an honour for St John’s Hospital to receive this recognition from the Mayor.

During his speech, the Mayor referenced the rich history of St John’s and the hospital’s valuable services to Limerick over the years. He concluded by saying:

“I salute you and wish you more success and good wishes in all your future endeavours and we (the people of Limerick) are indebted to you all for your ongoing tireless unselfish efforts. We are all proud of you. You are great exemplary ambassadors for Limerick City and County.
Thank You.”

Councillor Kieran O’Hanlon also attended the Reception and spoke very warmly about his personal experiences of St John’s Hospital, acknowledging the hospital’s longstanding value to the people of Limerick city and county.

St John’s Hospital has truly earned the Mayor’s recognition and I therefore would like to take this opportunity to congratulate each and every member of staff whose work has resulted in this award, bestowed by Mayor Mitchell on behalf of all the councillors in Limerick City and County Council.

Finally, I would like to mention that Milford Care Centre were also in attendance at the Mayor’s Reception; they too received recognition for their specialist palliative care and older person services to the Mid-West, having been nominated as “Person of the Year 2023”. We congratulate Milford on their honour and wish them continued success in the future.

Best wishes,
Emer
