Student Nurse Training

Since 2002, student nurse training is a degree programme undertaken at the University of Limerick. The BSc is a four-year degree programme with the theoretical content and skills laboratories based at the University. As part of their training, students are assigned on clinical placement to the Hospital and community services.

Successful completion of the four-year Pre-Registration/Degree Programmes in General Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing and Mental Handicap Nursing leads to Registration as a Nurse with An Bord Altranais – RGN or RPN or RMHN-and the award of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the Higher Education Institution – BSc

Service sites in the Mid – West include St John’s and the Mid-Western Regional Hospitals at Dooradoyle and Ennis, St. Munchin’s Maternity Hospital, Croom Orthopaedic Hospital, Milford Hospice, St Camillus’s Hospital and St Ita’s Elderly Care facilities, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Services.
