Hospital Profile - No Smoking Hospital
In compliance with government legislation, smoking is not permitted within any part of the building.
An external smoking shelter for patients has been erected. There could be health risks associated with patients
going directly from a heated ward to external temperatures. The Hospital does not accept responsibility for patients
who decide to take this risk.
In view of the dangers of passive smoking, staff members are not obliged to accompany dependent patients who wish to go
outside to smoke. Relatives or friends may seek permission from the Senior Nurse on duty if they are willing to assist in this role.
Smoking cessation counselling/therapy is available and any patient who wishes to avail of this service should inform
the Senior Nurse on duty.
